Winnie Langley, who smoked for 95 years from the age of seven, has
died at 102 years old - a month short of her 103rd birthday. She is
pictured here lighting what was thought to roughly be her 170,000
cigarette on her 100th birthday. She gave up just before Christmas
because she was no longer able to see the end of the match

Maria Baldescu, 68, peeled off the shell of this hard-boiled egg
at Iasi in north east Romania to find another egg in the middle. She
said: 'I collected the eggs from my henhouse in the morning and cooked
one up for my breakfast - but when I took off the shell I found another
egg inside.'
She said she had decided not to eat either of the eggs: 'I didn't want
to eat a mutant egg - the local vet said it was probably from radiation
from Chernobyl that fell here in Romania - who knows what impact it
might have on me'
